I purchased an external power pack (http://www.xpalpower.com/us/products/xp4001/) and it also has two USB ports but when I unplug the USB cable from my notebook and plug it into my N900 it does not charge. I have tested the XP4001 power pack with my wife's Samsung BlackJack and my son's Nokia 5530 XpressMusic and they both work flawlessly.

Is there a hack or app that I can install to have my N900 charge with the power pack?
I went to the FREEtipsforlife.com site listed on the back and registered my XP4001. It doesn't have the N900 listed, but the N97 takes the same style connector; micro USB, which you can see here:

For the N97 it says:
For this model, you must also purchase a cable adapter (Model # WB18) due to the specific voltage required by the mobile phone. * This cable is not part of the Free Tips for Life program. Members of the Free Tips for Life program will have access to the cable at 45% off the original cost. Non-members can purchase the cable at it`s original cost through the online store.
However, when I went to order the appropriate connector (CB32), it also offered the magic cable adapter (WB18) for free. Of course, even though these are "free" it still costs €18,50. I'm not 100% sure that the N97 has exactly the same setup, but I'm going to give it a try. This ended up being one expensive battery - hopefully it works in the end!
