What is the source for the "rumor"?
I'm talking about the N900 removing all your IM contacts from the respective IM server (jabber.ccc.de, gtalk, skype, msn,...), not from the syncml-server.

and this, unfortunately, is not the expected behaviour and a serious UI bug.

Then you'll never experience this bug ... I use refresh-from-client, too, but i keep all my contacts on my desktop PC. all my mobile devices get their data overwritten with each sync run. I didn't dare to do this with the N900, though, because of this bug.
