Here's some ideas....though I dont think any one will be willing to do this, here goes:
1) Use a command line that takes off the key board lights (You wont need key lights at day time) when Its night you can use a command line to turn on the key lights again.
2) Use a command line to power down the LCD lights to 80% or so...(20% battery increase)
3) Use a command line to under clock the device by 50 or 100mhz. (Dont think the n900 needs the full 600mhz anyway)...
These other methods are quite obvious but I'll state em anyway...
1) Limit your self to the amounts of apps you want to multitask (3 or so apps).
2) Make sure you close off useless applications. Widgets WILL kill your battery. Limit the amount of widgets you use, or at least use widgets that do constantly run in the background (even when wifi is off) as this will significantly decrease battery life.
3) Use 2 or 3 customizable home screens only, not the full 4 (I honestly feel the battery bug has a connection to the homescreens and their widgets)...
4) The more processes running in the background, the more battery life wasted. Battery life is wasted due to the amount of resources used by an application(s).
Well there ya have it. I'm not saying 'you have to do all of this' you can pick and choose whichever one option you prefer if your interested. Cheers...
Here's a thought also. The wifi tends to use the most resources on the phone, I'm not talking about the browser, I'm talking about the wifi itself. Most widgets are constantly connected to wifi, or if not connected, they are constantly trying to connect, whether the wifi is on or off. This may or may not bring about a points of congestion in the phone which in turn might cause short bursts of massive battery drainage. But this is just a thought....
