my setting (for my 3g) is the default of 10min. the 'use wlan if available' setting was checked. i'm not sure if there is an option for the wlan to auto-disconnect after not being able to find a preferred network. i think not, hence the need for wifi-switcher.

i agree with nifton's 2 day 3G usage. i've upped my display settings to 3 bars and so far battery life seems to be good. i will see how far i can push it by leaving pidgin MSN online. if battery drains too much from pidgin, i'll revert back to the more battery-conservative jabber with MSN transport service.

skype seems to be a huge battery-eater from the other battery power threads. i'd recommend using jabber to integrate all gtalk, msn, aim, yahoo accounts. from what i know jabber is extremely battery-efficient while allowing always-connected access.
