IMHO the area where the fullscreen button area is should always be a dead area. If you need to select a link in the botton right of a web page, come out of fullscreen and you can scroll down to the bottom right and access link.
For example:
When using youtube after watching a video pressing the bottom right will bring up the fullscreen option button,
but
will also select another video from the list located there when you didn't want to.
It is quite fiddly when on youtube to find a chunk of the screen that doesn't activate a link just to get up the full screen button.
Personally I would like to see dedicated Back/Forward buttons added next to the fullscreen button (which don't bring up the history view), this would get a better desktop experience IMO.
Example:
EDIT: Prehaps they could be greyed out if there is no history in the direction they point.
