Goober's Dream (to the tune of "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables)

There was a time when geeks were kind,
And their voices soft,
And their words inviting.
There was a time when phones were fine,
Each ringtone was a song,
And the song was exciting.
There was a time when it all went wrong...

I dreamed a dream in time gone by,
When hope was high and life worth living.
I dreamed that MfE made my phone fly,
I dreamed IT gods would be forgiving.
Then I was young and unafraid,
And dreams were made and used and wasted.
There was no ransom to be paid,
No mail unsent, no port untested.

But the admins come at night,
With their voices soft as thunder,
As they tear your hope apart,
And they turn your dream to shame.

I strapped my new phone to my side,
It filled my days with endless wonder...
I took provisioning in stride,
But it was gone when admins came!

And still I dream it comes to me,
That we will live the years together,
But there are dreams that cannot be,
And there are storms we cannot weather!

I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living,
So different now from what it seemed...
Nokia has killed the dream I dreamed...
