If you are willing to experiment a bit there are a lot of decent apps in testing and dev

My impression of android vs maemo is (our household has both):
Android apps are not that great compared with iphone

Android:
skype sucks
Basically work with telcos to block voip
pdf reader (brightreader etc) sucks
Browser is very good - more responsive than microb
(but that probably is a webkit vs gecko thing)
maps are better if you have a data plan
media playing isn't great (no avi)


My only issues with nokia are:
1) Ovi maps
2) Screen size and batt life (I liked the larger screen and larger batt)
3) Development transition - they are moving platforms too fast to give people time to port their apps (Maemo 4->5->6. they should make it easier and give booties
4) User interface has a learning curve (actually 4 was easier as it is more like a desktop os)
5) software glitches - which they are working on
