It was just yesterday that we reported the arrival of "MeeGo" - the smartphone and tablet OS that has Nokia and Intel's backing. In an interesting twist to the story, LG has announced that it would be launching its GW990 - with the MeeGo loaded. The GW990 was designed for Intel's Moorestown platform and was slated to run Intel's own Moblin OS. However, Moblin and Nokia's Maemo have "united" to form the "MeeGo" and LG will ship the GW990 with MeeGo. With Nokia yet to announce any MeeGo based devices, it is easy to assume that the GW990 will indeed be the first device to use this OS. The GW990 is expected to be released by the second half of this year and is likely to be available in Korea only - at least in the initial phase. It would be also interesting to see if Nokia too goes the MeeGo way and scraps Maemo in favour of the former.
