Have you increased the WiFi power to 100mW and turned off power saving?
I suppose that happens because the weak wifi signal you get from your landlord and beacuse of that any other radio signals are potentially disturbance. My laptop works fine, but I have quite good wifi signal all round the house.

Lets get back to the N900: yes my WIFI power is at 100mW and I have also tried turning off power saving. No change (
