As el3ctronic said....This is exactly what the Nokia guy in the video said. The Maemo community can produce their own version of Meego.

It is about getting apps not from Nokia, but from others. If meego is the future, then new apps will be built for meego!

However, i think the plan is probably for the first 'meego' device (the n9xx) from Nokia use the n900 electronics- but with a new processor family working with intel (e.g. atom). Which means the n900 could be an orphan in not just the OS, but also the processor family.

Putting meego on the n900 will ensure newer python apps or other interpreted apps will run, but C apps may need a recompile even if meego is there
