This trick worked for me. Both with my kernel and the one included.
glinfo and services_test work and do something, xegltest cannot find libXau.so (even if it IS in /usr/lib!)
Without this hack I got same allocation failure everytime and in addition when trying to connect to wi-fi whole device reboots (dma allocation failure in wi-fi driver?). With cards unmounted it works few times and even wi-fi sometimes works and reboots later :-)
I guess it is time to dig out my old N800 with soldered serial cable and strip down boot sequence a bit.
