nice idea but if I have cell+sms+mms(someday)+jabber-voice+voip(private)+voip(work)+skype there is not enough space!

to go there the fastest... all views should be the same so popping up from history should be the same as contacts tab and thats not working out atm as you only get cell+1 entries shown.

what is faster? taping the wrong and closing the phone app and do it again or a second screen? I am now used to it but sometimes I tap wrong with scrolling so I am calling jabber which wasnt I was after...

On my previous phone I had one entry shown, chose number with left and right (number or email or stuff) and an options button with popup for further actions like sms mms or send contact details... that was slow but tap once popup tap again isnt slow at all... saving taps is something people like to do for some reasons I dont understand

more interesting would be to have small icons in the overview of contacts to note whether there is an email adresse saved or not (this should be configurable with priority setting as portrait wont show them all and with status of IM accounts included if picked to show, maybe rolling if it doesnt fit in the space, also the contact card shown in your pic should have all status notes shown not only one icon...)
