I have another Idea to get around the problem with not being able to choose which view to launch in the original calendar widget:
Build a widget that is just as big as the calendar widget, but make it totally transparent.
It is possible to place shortcuts and widgets on top of each other. Place the calender widget where you want it, and then place the transparent widget on top of it.
When you click on the calender wiget you actually click on the transparent widget.
