Are you suggesting they have no engineers working there? Also, engineers don't make these type of decisions a lot of times.
Let's not go too OT with this, but Toyota is the perfect example. They received complaints as far back as 2004 about sudden accelerations. Instead of fixing those problems right away, they used the same accelerator pedals and ECUs on more and more models. Instead of fixing a few hundreds of thousands of cars back in 2004, they have to fix close to 8 million in 2010.
