I changed the appearance of LXDE to look like a cross between Diablo and Fremantle. A bar across the bottom or top doesn't make sense to me with the aspect ratio of the N900's screen. Putting the bar down the side works better, I think.

Also, the dark wallpaper works better with the dark theme.

As Mandor says, all these things can be modified to your liking.
