Have you changed the settings on the camera itself? You can increase the quality from the default settings. Plus, when taking photos, I find I get much better quality shots when you do the two-stage snapping - hold down the button until the viewfinder square goes green, then press it fully.

There is a massive difference in quality of pictures taking them this way.
