If the app developers want to implement protection, they're welcome to try. If they -expect- my device to do so, they can go home. Certainly, I bought the N900 because it didn't implicitly give control of my device to some 3rd party, and treat me (the owner!) like the enemy.
Actually, unless you want your device to dabble in 100% free content, you'll have to EARN their trust before they would sell to you something you want. DRM system can provide this for them.
