To the best of my knowledge, there is no official word on what builds are affected, if there will be a recall, or even if Nokia has actually addressed the problem in current design. I read a couple pages back that a care employee stated that Nokia improved the design but they've been saying a lot of things. I'm very interested in this particular bit of information and am waiting for word on it so I can plan for how to spend the money I have set aside for a device such as this.

There's also no data on whether the DIY fix will improve the integrity but I think it probably will. Just be absolutely sure you don't get epoxy inside the plug body itself or it will be just as unusable as if it had fallen off.

If there's no way to get your warranty serviced, there's no reason not to give it a shot if you're confident with electronics. If I didn't have a warranty, I would have done that myself but a voided warranty and a broken device wasn't my dream come true.

EDIT: The wiki also says that the DIY "may" void your warranty but I think given that charging the device voids your warranty, we can assume that squirting epoxy sufficient to fix this design fault *will* void your warranty as well, no?
