Yes, seems like it is a really good outcome. I still won't get too excited until I receive it (don't count your chickens before they hatch).
I am still not happy with Nokia however. If they had issued and official statement that looked like an official statement, this wouldn't have been an issue.
I am still not convinced that a replacement N900 won't have the same problem. For all I know it might come from the same batch as the problem phone. Since Nokia haven't recalled the phones it is not possible to tell. I see lots of speculation on this thread, but no real evidence.
I would like to be able to say "I will be very careful", but I was very careful previously, as I had seen the reports of the problems with the preproduction model and wasn't entirely convinced back then they had fixed the problem either.
Plus what happens if I really do drop the phone, and the USB cable is connected? I know it is really easy to do, have done it heaps with my older Nokia 6280 phone (especially while charging), and while the back cover no longer stays on, the electronics still work perfectly.
