Archos has the worst naming conventions I have ever run into. There are multiple flavors of the Archos 5, Archos 7, and Archos 9 in production, out of production, and planned for production. Especially when buying from anyplace other than Archos (and there doesn't seem to be a lot of discounting going on) you need to make sure that you're getting the OS and CPU and whatever that you saw on the Archos site. For example, currently they make an Archos 5 with Android and one with something else. The Archos 7 is not available with Android yet. Note also that the Archos Android implementation cannot officially access the Android app store (although there's a hack for that).
The 9 does look interesting. but if you are looking for Android the new 7 and the 8 have just been announced:

Also, you need to be aware that the number of announced tablets greatly exceeds the number of commercially available tablets and the number of commercially available tablets greatly exceeds the number of commercially available tablets with a warranty that's valid in your country (unless you live in the Far East).
