ignore the instructions regarding symbian ovi maps. just download the zip files for the countries you need, and then extract them somewhere and copy them in the MyDocs/cities/diskcache folder.
I downloaded the Ovi Maps 3 USA map on adancau's link. After I extracted the files, I opened up the cities folder on my N900 and found it already had all the same files, and some extra ones. How come?

For example on the N900 under "cities > diskcache > 0 > 1" there are 7 items:

5a10.cdt
15db1310_s.cdt
15db5310_s.cdt
15db9310_s.cdt
15dbd310_s.cdt
15dc1310_s.cdt
1610.cdt

In the Ovi Maps 3 USA maps that I downloaded on my laptop from adancau's link, the corresponding folder "Ovi Maps > 0 > 1" has only two files:

5a10.cdt
1610.cdt

These have the same file sizes as the corresponding files on the N900. I never installed any maps on the N900. Why does the N900 already have all these files (all the same files as on the Ovi Maps I downloaded online, plus some extra files that aren't on the downloaded version)?
