  1. Launch "Settings".
  2. In the Settings application that opens, tap "Profiles" in the "Personalization" section.
  3. In the Profiles window that opens, scroll down so "SMS alert" is visible.
  4. Tap "SMS alert".
  5. In the "SMS alert" window that opens, tap the "More" button.
  6. In the "Add tone" window that opens, browse your N900 and memory card (if any) to locate the MP3 file of your choice.
  7. Tap the MP3 file. The "Add tone" window will close.
  8. In the "SMS alert" window, tap the "Done" button. The "SMS alert" window will close.
  9. In the Profiles window, tap the "Save" button. The Profiles window will close.
  10. Close the Settings application.
