You should have stopped here. You are wrong. Meego (code name Harmattan) will use .deb packages. At least that's the word from qgil.
Now Harmattan is what was to be Maemo 6. If they have already worked on it enough that they have a DEBIAN base, QT4.6 and the new UI... Does that not mean that it IS already what MeeGo is going to be, but without the switch to RPM? Also, if Harmattan is NOT going to come out for the N900 at all... Then what is the point of them continuing developing it? 'cause by the time the next devices are out, they will be 100% MeeGo (read that as RPM based). Harmattan being Debian based, COULD be a dist-upgrade away. It would be like going from Lenny to Squeeze, or if you're an Ubuntu fan, Karmic Koala to Lucid Lynx.
