Not certain what actually casues the slowdowns, but whatever they are, the slowdowns are extreme, making it almost unusable. That said, In general, scrolling is certainly usable, but, as you say, it really should be much smoother even when there is nothing obvious impeding it.

There is another issue with webkit: When using it in portrait mode there is no text reflow (right-hand margins are cut off), and so it is not possible to read articles without reverting to landscape.

I do see that, and many thanks for implementing it, but I might have to eat my words on this added feature. Depending on the theme, this works well or, more often than not, actually makes things worse. For example: with theme Marina it is perfect. With Digital Nature it's petty bad. For some of the themes I tested your previous light blue worked better. Maybe user preference here? "Turn on theme colors." Or maybe the specific source for your theme colors could be causing the problem?

Not sure I am seeing that, but I do see that "expired" articles are still in the feed, even from many days ago. Which begs the question: what does "delete articles after 24 hours" actually mean, if after 72 hours old articles are still there?
