Sorry to hear your bad news. I had my N900 spill off of my lap onto the street as I was getting out of my car last weekend. I was a bit stunned at first as I didn't realize what had just happened...until my wife exclaimed "Uh oh!" Fortunately, it kind of skidded across the road rather than hitting it solid, and it was/is in a hard case (bought here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=250582533199) which sustained about a 3mm crack.
