i have a 16GB sd card

rather than have the whole 16GB available i want to partition it so only 8GB is available and the other 8 GB is given to truecrypt for secure storage!

(I'm sure with the power of these devices everybody will need to consider the potential of loosing ur phone 1 day)

I have used

sfdisk /dev/mmcblk1p1 -N1 << EOF
,old_cylinder_size/2
EOF

this seems to work but file manager still reports a 16 GB drive (well 14.x really)

so i

mkdosfs /dev/mmcblk1p1

and still no joy

I also have noticed since doing this that my fone seems really slow and laggish at times now

am i missing something?

any help would be very welcome.

p.s. i am young and have never been old but could someone please explain why cylinder boundries stil matter on solid state memory?
