It hasn't been confirmed, but it's looking likely that the PR1.2 update will include more options for picture and video capture
And as for using the video light, your best bet at the mo is to use this app - http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=46427 which also allows for manual focussing whilst capturing video. I highly recommend it
