I have thought of it but

a) no idea what the risks are and how painful it will be

b) backing up individual data..contacts, messaging etc, is that even possible?

I know contacts export to the user's drive but it's kind of messy. Whereas my old SE phones had a single All_Contacts.vcf when backing up the entire catalogue, the N900 seems limited to creating a file for each entry..=/
