BTW: If it is a small chip on the screen maybe the plastic overlay can be replaced? (The Nintendo DS has this. Actual lcd and "touch" senser is sandwiched behind a plastic sheet).

You may get more if you are capable of repairing it.
I bought an iPod Touch about six weeks ago and had it online via JoikuSpot on my n900 but carrying two devices around is hassle. Some of the apps for the iPhone simply make my life easier. I looked into development on the n900 (I last programmed about 15 years ago) but I think the learning curve would be too steep for me, considering what I read on forums. Seems to be a gentler curve on the iPhone/iPod.

In terms of friends, only one has an iPhone. Very few of my friends are interested in their phones.

Considered DIY on my phone to repair it. But you should see the job I made of wallpapering the kitchen.
