Hm-m, "softupd -vv -s" prints error like

ERROR: ioctl(SIOCSIFMTU): No such device
ERROR: Unable to open gadget ISI communication device.

What IP interface it tries to open?

EDIT: never mind, just use

softupd -vv -s --local
