No need for a new thread but I did want to record my resolution somewhere so to not leave the issue hanging. Looks like I ran into bug 8605. Following this comment cleared it up. Now whether it was caused by my fiddling around here or something else who knows, but just like anything else you try on your tablet, YEE BE WARNED, THERE MAY BE DRAGONS
