As I've never even heard of Rogers and Fido I find it unlikely that this problem is bothering many people.

Surely this is only cause enough for Rogers and Fido not to include the N900 on its fully compatible handsets list?

I'n far from sure it's justification to re write the phone software to cope with something barely anyone uses, even Nokia has to funnel resources into activities that benefit as many users as possible. That's just the way it is inside mobile device companies....
