I've concluded that the thing about Apple is that if they can't implement it in a fashion where the functionality will not harm the perception of Apple products then they will choose to omit it until they can either get it working or until people forget about it (with the help of marketing).

For example, cut/copy and paste, multi-tasking, etc..It's likely that they don't want the perception of Apple products to be poor at say multi-tasking so instead of letting users try it out themselves and learn that it's a bad idea to run X many heavy apps at once they rather just not let them do it at all.

Part of that is why I can never own an Apple product. If I did I would constantly be fighting against their walls (e.g. jailbreaking) which as we can see Apple is more than willing to play the cat and mouse game with jailbreakers.
