I tried asking the following in my own thread, but no-one replied (perhaps no-one knows), so I thought I'd try here.

Does anyone know what the difference is between this reboot and the command-line "reboot" you can type in x-term as root?

All I can tell is that after the menu version is run, the phone will not ask you for the SIM card PIN, where was the command-line does like it would after a power-off. Also the menu is much quicker to start the reboot, it almost feels like pressing a reset button then performing a restart.
