Vodafone has just identified a gap and is aiming for it and make money from it

The N900 does not have any restriction with regards to software updates and vodafone can't put any pressure on Nokia about that, as there is no point in doing so.

The only reason you may see some delay in subsidised phones is because the carrier needs to train people to support the new software before it gets released.
