having a glimps at the link, it looks like you are missing something -- or the information at that page are outdated.
maybe you can simply remove the "catalog" for mozilla using the gui?
if not, then instead of
dir
use
ls -al
and for gedit: there's leafpad, but without working apt you won't be able to install it ...
do
cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/filename-found-with-ls
and c&p the matching line.
however, have a look at
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/m/
it should automatically add the right repository, though iirc firefox mobile is already in the maemo repos.
