If you want to get over noob status then there is going to be only one way out of it. Read and then maybe read and then also read and again read. Search search and again search and search. This place is full of summaries of overclocking in here talk and in wiki and you just have to find them and read them. Simple as that.
Most of people are not so stupid that they do not understand but sadly people are quite often (including me) quite lazy (actually that is imho one aspect of stupidity).
Use search and power search.
