well, today I've decided that the N900 is a no go. I got it saturday, and today when I was coming from work, my parents call me on Skype. the phone started ringing and ringing, and I've pressed the answer button on the headphones, but nothing, and I keep pressing them. in the end I've managed to get the phone out, unplug the headphone and answer. I took a while and almost braked my neck. Then I've tried to stop the music and lock the screen so I could place it in my pocket. It was so hard, I almost felt.
This is a deal breaker for me, so I've called my carrier, told him that I can't use the phone, although I though I could, this case I wasn't predicting, not being able to talk on skype via headphones.
And since I have a 2 weeks period when I can decide I don't want it I decided to return it before making more costs (data/sms/calls) which will make it impossible to cancel my subscription, which cost "an arm and a leg".
N900 is an awesome device, especially if you commute and stuff, it's amazing, and I'm a little upset for that, but with P.R. 1.2 being waited for a while and missing portrait mode... nokia will loose costumers, and even if you might tell that that it's not true, the less technical ones will go with Apple and the more average joe which hates Apple will go with Android.
If nokia starts actually making phones for us and not unfinished prototypes, I will probable get back, hell even if he makes the N900 what it should be I'll buy it for good this time. But right now, it's like nokia takes us for stupid, with the from VGA camera which is useless (this pisses me the most), with the missing USSD, with the MMS, calendar, etc. I know I can live without, but why should I. why should a user create a program to do a basic function which the old 1100 knows how to do, instead of creating an amazing app to use the power of this little monster. Nokia need to get his act together or he will loose a lot of customers. I know some of the missing stuff will be added by nokia in P.R. 1.2 but why should we wait until then? we paid for something at the beginning and we get it in rates.
I'll probable still hang around here, hoping that nokia will get his act together and will make the N900 what it should be, the best phone there is.
Until then, back to my E51
