By reducing the audio rate and fps, it looks great but I think the tablet could use just the slightest amount of more juice during some of the action scenes.

Well if there aren't many apps using cpu on the background, there's not much you can do. N8x0 profile should play most videos smoothly and that's why it should be used and that's why Knots was made in the first place N8x0 can't handle videos bigger than 400x240 too well. Serge optimized mplayer for n8x0 really well and I doubt there's much you can do about it since the bandwidth of external display controller is the culprit here, not just the cpu.
