Besides battery life, is there an argument for this? My main objection is that it's Yet Another Setting.
There is an adittional reason, as someone whose eyesight is slowly getting worse I think it is easier on the eyes to read white on black.

I think I would agree with this so if it isn't too much trouble would like to be able to use it in this way which should be a little easier on the eyes.
