I suspect there would be no negative consequences locking at 1ghz, despite what many have said; the noop loops are very power efficient, and even at 1ghz, the chip isn't doing much. I left mine idling at 1ghz for 20 minutes and the temperature hung around 3C over ambient (vs ambient at 250mhz). Even under moderate load that was averaging 500mhz, locking at 1ghz only increased CPU temp by 3C. I would suspect that running intensive operations at 250mhz would heat the CPU more than idling at 1ghz..
