If you want to integrate it you may also consider usb. XBOX (not 360) gaming controllers are usb and are quite cheap ($15?) nowadays and have linux drivers in kernel. They also contain some space inside to fit memory cards so maybe battery could fit inside if you rip out memory card slots, maybe even four AA rechargeables that make ~5V in total to power usb and controller. You could also tie/glue spare N770 cover to it to hold n770 securely.

Also usb may have faster response rate/better latency than bluetooth and buttons and controls on xbox gamepad are much better (and analog).

It will be a bit heavier though. The original MS controller is also quite big but there are smaller ones. It won't be exactly mobile but good to use in house.

I have this idea since the time I have N770 but never actually tried. Could be great to play Duke3D (runs adequately on 200Mhz Tapwave Zodiac but could be a bit better) on N770.
