my suggestion is:

Just add the scrollbar with the option to disable it for those who don't want to use it.

btw: when i open a mamo-talk link on my N900 I have to swipe 5/6 times before i can start reading the topic...verry anoying if you ask me (default browser with charactersize set on large)
