I'm afraid the only possibility at the moment is to use Easy Debian and OpenOffice if you want to edit spreadsheets. You can also use Google Docs to edit spreadsheets online, but some people don't want to or really can't for various reasons use cloud services for their data. OpenOffice through Easy Debian is sort of usable. I haven't really tried it that much, but I guess if one has really a need to edit spreadsheets in N900 it's the only way. Installing Easy Debian is really straightforward if you follow the installation instructions in the wiki you linked in your post. Beware that the installation might take more than half hour and during that time N900 is practically completely unusable because the installer takes all the resources, at least that's what I think happens. So don't be afraid if it seems N900 is not responding at all during the installation. Everything returns to normal after the installation is finished! About adding waypoints in Ovi Maps: I guess you can do it only by adding points in the Route? I haven't used it that much but N900's Maps is quite simple. And it appears that the waypoints are not saved from one session to another, which is a shame.
