"One thing i don't understand is the scrap save thing how does that work and what is it?"

Scrap save is same thing as "Iterative Save" option ala Painter IX... I use it a lot.

The Scrap save automatically saves sequentially numbered versions of your file... it is very handy. when you are doing a lot of sketches and want to save those quickly.

Example I use these kind of settings:

Settings -> Paths -> /media/mmc1/Scraps/scrap

So, my Scraps are saved to
Memory Card in folder named Scraps with
filename = scrap001_a.ora -> SAVE NEXT SCRAP -> scrap001_b.ora -> etc.

I have configurated key command to this function.
