If you want to view your N900 desktop on your Windows PC you DO NOT use the vnc viewer package.

You have to install and run x11vnc on your N900 and then install a VNC Viewer on your Windows PC (like RealVNC).

After installing the X11VNC package to your N900, you should really start it from the Terminal's command line. The GUI launcher is just awful.


Try this command as a normal user in the terminal:

nohup x11vnc -forever&

Leave the Terminal open, but minimize it to the background. The VNC server will stay open for as long as your keep the terminal open or until you change network connections on the N900, whatever happens first.


Then open the Windows PC's VNC viewer and type in the local LAN IP address of your N900. Bang! Your in business with remote access to the N900's screen, keyboard, and touch screen via your Windows PC's monitor, keyboard and mouse.
