The people on this forum spend a lot of time developing applications and helping others with modifications and there are extensive threads on these. Which actually make a good read. If all the people developing these great applications have to come and give a summary to every new N900 owner then the slower development will be. I think most people want to make use of protrait mode especially for sending text messages on the go. It is highly unlikely that this will happen. You can phone and browse the web in portrait mode. So if this is something you NEED them then what you really need is a different phone. If you can't be bothered to read through the threads then people aren't going to bother answering you when you bring up issues that have already been tired out.
