In ref to USB power slot, something I did even when I had the silicone cases, I used a small file and filed down the edges on the plastic holding the usb plug on the mains power charger. It allowed the USb port to connect far easier to my N900 when it has any sort of case on. Just by smoothing the edges made it fit some much better.
