MASSIVE problems right now...
What massive problems? Financially Nokia is fine. The MeeGo project is drawing a lot of early support. The N900 is more successful than expected. So where are things so dire?

...and as much as the community plays a hell of a big part for end user NOKIA is not exactly playing fair..
How so? What is unfair? Lack of info? The link I gave above gives lots of official info. There's more available elsewhere, that's just one source.

...and without NOKIA'S help here i am afraid to say the community will die a death sadly as many people are now pissed with Nokia.
If they're pissed it's because they're not paying attention to what is actually happening.

The N900 and Maemo are not being forgotten by Nokia, they are both still fully supported. More updates are coming. The N900 has been announced as the reference ARM platform for MeeGo development.

The community is definitely not on life support. For example, there are extensive discussions going on in the fledgling MeeGo community about how to get both the Moblin and Maemo communities productively and successfully involved. The community issue is being considered in a thorough, thoughtful way by community members and official representatives of involved companies such as Quim Gil, Dawn Foster, texrat, and many, many others.

You should check into stuff more before posting uninformed FUD based only on the fact that for some unclear reason you're not happy.
