My N900 works today because of this community of support. Always ask the question if you have it.
The only thing to watch out for is your rootfs.

If you install non-optified packages (in -testing or -devel), your rootfs will be filled up quicker, and you will not be able to update.

However, the next update (PR1.2), supposedly adds a script that cleans up /opt/.

So you wouldn't need to worry for the subsequent updates.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
